{ May 5 – 11, 2014 }

Wow, this week was a whirlwind! Some of the highlights include:

+ Ryder’s swim lessons! They are almost done!

+ Ryder & I explored and walked to a “new” to us park when we were getting our Jeep’s tires rotate/aligned. It was actually a really ghetto park but it kept us entertained. Ryder brought a football along and we had a great time.

+ Kevin purchased a Lee’s Cyclery (bike shop) Livingsocial & got some good stuff for his bike. Sometimes he bikes to work so it was time for a tune up and some new gear.

+ Media Fun: I finished the last Hush Hush book (#4). It was good! Read them. We also watched: Shark Tank & New Girl.

+ My friend Tiffany Whitsitt & I went to lunch (Ry too!) at QDoba. It was fun to catch up over yummy Mexican food!

+ Ear Probs: Well, if you remember, I got a double ear infection HERE & I was concerned that my hearing wasn’t getting any better. I called in & they had me try a 5 day 20/mg 2x a day dosage of Prednisone (steroids) to see if it would help with the inflammation and help my hearing get better. Nope. Didn’t do anything but keep me up at night having a hard time trying to sleep! At LEAST, I didn’t have to pay for those drugs because I already had a big stash of steroids in my medicine closet…yep! I took Prednisone for my Ankylosing Spondylitis a year ago and basically Prednisone stays good for years…haha…it’s true. They had me come in for a follow up so I did. I met with a really nice lady but the appointment didn’t go well. Long story short, she said I had a cholesteatoma which is VERY SERIOUS. If you look it up, it is a growth (not a tumor or cancer) but it basically just grows & destroys everything it grows into. It destroys your balance nerve, inner ear bones, etc. & can go to your brain, etc… The only thing to do is surgery to remove it and then if you have surgery, they have to check up on you often to make sure it doesn’t grow back & if it does, you keep getting surgery. So she tells me I have this and says I need to see an ENT…and it is a complication from the infection. I go in in 2 days and she says I don’t have it. GOSH, I’ve never been happier!!! I definitely don’t need any surgeries AND more health problems. The thing is my hearing still wasn’t good at all and I was (& still am today) hearing ringing.  So. She looked in my ear in a microscope & could see how the primary care physician thought I had a cholesteatoma without having a microscope/the better equipment that ENT’s do. The infected stuff in my ear was in the ‘wrong place’ than it normally would be with an ear infection and she says it is because my ear drum ruptured & then healed. So that’s actually what happened.  She had me start on ear drops to clean my ear out from infected stuff & to see the ear drum for the next appointment to make sure it is healed. So that’s is what I did…more on that later.

Oh, and I started on The Maze Runner at this appointment. I actually only read 2 chapters & then had to return it shortly after so I gave up. Maybe I’ll read it later but the language was weird and I didn’t have time to try to get into it…thoughts? Have you read it or no?

+ On the way to a Relief Society activity, I took a picture of the temple lot (the panoramic shot above). Can’t wait for our temple to be built! The activity was good and we learned about wills, trusts, etc.…totally need to make a will still! Been on my ‘To-Do’ list since I was pregnant. We are going to make one soon.

Then we had a lot of family come in town for Hunter’s 12th birthday… Omi, Opi, & Kelsi…

+ Hunter’s 12th Birthday: We celebrated by going to my parents house and Hunter opened his presents. Then we ate at Mt. Fuji. Ryder was a fan of the tofu in the soup…maybe miso? Totally don’t even know, but it is good. BUT, Ryder wasn’t in the mood for the highchair for very long so we took turns playing with him outside haha. He just wanted to run and run. I ordered curry and it was crazy spicy! It was kind of a stressful dinner because of the intense spiciness. I am not a spicy person but the girl said that the curry wasn’t spicy and whelp, I cannot agree with her. Then we went back to my parents house and put Ryder to bed there. We had cake & worked on a big puzzle for awhile after. It was a fun time!

+ Saturday morning, I made some weird healthy oatmeal thing that you put egg whites in, etc. I found on Pinterest. It was interesting. Then we quickly got to being productive! Kevin cleaned out the window wells since covers were coming soon to be installed. We went to Home Depot & Lowe’s for some returns (random stuff from our kitchen remodel). Then we met up with Opi and my dad at King Soopers to get groceries for the Mother’s Day dinner (the guys were in charge of cooking it). Ryder rode the penny horse & looked like a little cowboy…adorable (photo above.) I listed our Chicco Cortina stroller on Craigslist. We relaxed by watching an episode of Shark Tank when Ryder was asleep. Then, I met up with my family, Omi, Opi, dad, mom, Hunter, Zach, and the Puccetti’s at Cinemark to watch Heaven is Here. Wow. I had no clue what that movie was going to be like but it was kind of intense. Not what was I was expecting haha. It is about a little boy’s near-death experience. My grandpa, Opi, who was with us at the movie, is an ER doctor & he knows about them more than I do. He knows a few people who have had near-death experiences, which is crazy. Then Kevin & Ryder met up with everyone at Noodles for dinner. We had a good time. Ryder ate a ton of meat which isn’t normal for him so we were pumped…then we headed over to my parents and hungout with everyone for a little while longer.

Next up: Mother’s Day!

xoxo
