Ryder’s First Rice Cereal

Ryder tried rice cereal for the first time on January 13, 2013 at my parents house. Kevin and I were very excited for him to try solid foods! We ate dinner at my parents and then got Ryder ready for his cereal. Kevin fed him and we all took photos and videos. At first he didn’t know what to think and then after a few minutes he got upset and started crying haha. I was hoping he would love it but he didn’t. It only took a few tries for him to like it though! Now, at 6 months, we are doing solids twice a day, usually rice cereal and a veggie. We haven’t introduced fruits yet as I’ve heard that they are less likely to like veggies if you offer fruit first because they are so sweet. He has tried sweet potatoes and carrots so far! We will probably do a lot more veggies over the next couple of weeks and slowly add in some fruit! We have one of those mesh things that you mash up food in and they can eat through it; I will probably mash up a banana sometime soon and see what he thinks! I can’t believe it is already time for baby food! Still need to get a high chair…haha.

Anyone have any high chair recommendations?

  1. Haha. Holland had about the same reaction when we tried rice cereal. But I still haven't been able to get her to eat ANY baby food! We've tried every week since a little bit after four months and she is just not having any of it! Haha. She likes to gnaw on things like cucumbers or apples or bananas but she just doesn't like pureed baby food. It is frustrating! Ryder is adorable though! I love all of his faces in these pictures!
