Christmas Clifford + Ryder's 1st (early) Christmas

One evening my mom and brother Zach came over and brought Ryder a gift.
Christmas Clifford.
Ryder loves Clifford.
Seriously it is so cute.
Big, floppy, ears, perfect for grabbing and holding onto.
Clifford went with Ryder many places, while I ran errands, hanging out in the car seat together :)

Then December 21, 2012, Kevin and I decided to exchange gifts and have Ryder open his.
We celebrated early because we left December 23 to Rio de Janiero, Brazil and were not going to be bringing any presents along with.
A few days prior (yes I am skipping around in dates a lot) Kevin and I went to Babies 'r' Us to get a good deal on a Maclaren stroller for the Brazil trip. I did tons and tons of research on umbrella strollers and decided upon the Maclaren Quest. We got a killer deal since we got last years model (in the back of the Babies 'r' Us store), on sale, and then we talked to the manager to get an additional 50% off (an employee there told me if you speak to the manager often times they will give you a deal to clear up some floor/inventory space of the sale section). So basically we got a sweet stroller for way less.

Back to our Christmas celebration...
Our Christmas tree, presents, Ryder in his new stroller, and the husband.
Yes that sweatshirt is how Kevin wrapped my present! Hilarious.
Ryder opening a Christmas present from Omi and Opi.
He looks pretty happy, huh?!
Ryder sitting on top of his big present from Kevin and I.
(an exersaucer)
I wanted to help Ryder open a present so I helped him tear it and he didn't really like it hahaha.
Look at his face!
I got Kevin a gift-card to Snooze (a favorite brunch place downtown) and some fancy sodas he likes from an awesome soda/candy shop. Kevin got me some warm boots. And for Ryder, we got him an exersaucer! He loves it! It is basically an amusement park for him ;)
Here Ryder is wearing the outfit Omi and Opi got him.
Next up: Ryder's newborn photo-shoot, Ryder's baby blessing, and our Brazil trip.
Literally that should be it for 2012 (I hope)...
Hope your holidays were great ;)

December According to my iPhone

December was a great month.
In the beginning, we visited Kansas City, Missouri.
In the later half, we spent a week and a half in Rio de Janiero and Sao Paulo, Brazil (posts coming soon) over Christmas and New Years.

Here is a little of what we were up to when we were home in Fort Collins, Colorado.

+ My mom put Ryder's face in some app and sent it to me...
so we got to watch Ryder dance to "Gangnam Style" haha.
+ Kevin and Ryder hung out after church and I'm betting they watched some sports ;)
+ My mom, Zach, and I ate at Tokyo Joes. I had a Yakitori bowl (below).  It was amazing! We then hit up Macy's at Foothills Fashion Mall - our lame mall which by the way is getting a makeover!!! - so that was a fun night.
+ Ryder started taking naps in his crib...
Kevin had to make sure Ryder was in Baseball AND Camo haha.
+ We gave Ryder many baths. Baths are always a fun time! Ryder loves them!
PS. The washcloth on him is called a bath cozy - it helps babies stay warm while in a bath and not shiver.
I just love how giggly and smiley Ryder is! We have multiple videos of him hysterically laughing in the bath tub.
+ Kevin and I went shopping all day on a Saturday once trying to get last minute Christmas gifts.
We hit up Kohl's, the mall, and Subway for dinner (maybe a few other places?).
We did an awesome 'Pay-it-forward' experience at Subway (maybe I will blog about it?)
Basically it was awesome and you should try to pay it forward to someone every once in awhile ;)
Ryder and I hanging out in a dressing room...
Cutie in the dressing room.
+ Lesley came into town so she got to meet Ryder and Ryder got to meet her and baby Jackson!
Too bad you don't live here still ;) Our boys are only a few months apart.
+ My boys!  Love them.
+ Got to love a sleeping baby.  Precious!
+ Opi sent me this collage he made of Ryder and our little family.
Opi LOVES taking pictures and editing them and making collages ;)
+ One morning Kevin was leaving for work and noticed Ryder got out of his swaddle...
Not even funny! Kevin took this picture and then moved the blanket off his face and told me.
Oh my gosh! It was funny but not at all haha.
Now we put him in his Halo or Skip Hop sleep sacks...he can't break out of those!!!
+ Can you say cutest baby ever?
I may be biased but really, I die.
+ Annnd...I visited my rheumatologist again because I am having another flare up these days.
Long story...but basically having any type of arthritis SUCKS!
I got another batch of X-Rays (more X-Rays than my first batch almost 2 years ago) so here Ryder was in the dressing room while we were waiting for me to go back and get them done.
I will post about this soon. Something needs to change where I am not in pain.
If you want to read more on my blog regarding all this fun stuff, go here or here.
+ Anddd on a positive note, we hit up Snooze. Always a good time.
Split half a breakfast burrito and biscuits and gravy with my mom!
+ My friend Emily and her mom stopped by to hangout for a little bit.
Move back to FoCo Em... ;) Denver isn't that cool!
+ And the last picture to wrap this up...one of Ryder's 'new' faces!
Every once in awhile Ryder does a 'new' face and we call it his 'new' face.
He got all pouty lips on us in December and it was the cutest thing ever.
And he really hasn't done it recently...
Miss those lips haha.
It is crazy seeing your baby grow and do new things and it keeps on going and then all of a sudden they are huge and not seeming so baby-ish anymore. They grow too fast!!!
And...not pictured...

+ We set up Ryder's education fund! Got to start putting money into it so he can get a great education!
+ Kevin went on a business trip to Atlanta, Georgia.
+ Ryder and I got sick for a week...which wasn't the funnest ;)
+ Ryder and I met up with Lesley and her son Jackson as well as Bekah and her daughter Carmen.
We all ate at 5 Guys and caught up, as Lesley now lives in Kentucky!
+ Kevin and I celebrated Christmas early...it was Ryder's first Christmas!
We also celebrated with my family the day before we left for Brazil.
Blog posts on this coming up!

Have a great Thursday :D

Ryder Meets Santa

We took Ryder to meet Santa at the mall...
just one of those things you need to do when you have a kid ;)
and pay for the very overpriced photo, hehe.
Looking back that evening he just started not feeling well so he was kind of out of it.
He was actually crying before the first photos in case it looks like it...
He didn't seem to care much to meet Santa or anything.
He was just chilling ha!
And funny story- when Kevin put Ryder on Santa's lap, I saw Santa's face, and then realized I think he was one of my art teachers at my high school!
Later I found out that he really was my art teacher.
I couldn't really ask him when there were kids waiting to meet him, "Oh did you teach art at Rocky Mountain High School?" Would maybe not be the best...
But he did, he taught my 2-D and a 3-D art class!
(I remember he really liked my prismacolor colored pencil drawing of a peach lol.)
A week or so later, my sister went with some guy friend to the mall and they recognized him and got a picture. They actually talked to him so yes he was our teacher. Too funny.
I wonder what next year will be like for Ryder since he will be over a year old!
It is so fun being a mom and enjoying the holidays as one!

Early December KC Trip

December 5-9, 2012

Kevin and I took Ryder on his first airplane ride and trip...to Kansas City, Missouri the beginning of December! We flew out on December 5th and headed back home on the 9th.
Ryder did amazing on the airplane and I now feel like I could write a post on traveling with a baby...it was so successful ha!
Here is a little glimpse of what went down:
Here is a little of what happened:

+ We went to 2 of Kyle's basketball games and all the nieces and nephews wore SBU Bearcats t-shirts or onesies made by Kathy, to support Kyle!
+ Ryder slept 9 hours for the first time! He slept really well the whole trip...but he has been a good sleeper for awhile now but 9 hours was a first!
+ Kevin, Ryder, and I saw Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 with the Painters...it is sort of a tradition! We have seen all of the Twilight movies (except for the 1st) with David and Tara when we go visit them in the fall/winter! Too funny. Bummer it is over! So, yep, that would mean that was Ryder's first movie in the theatres! He did great except for after I nursed him he cooed for a little bit before falling asleep lol.
+ We walked the Plaza with Starbucks beverages in hand (caramel apple cider anyone?!)
+ We attended a Wachter work party bowling night! Wachter is where my father-in-law works. Also, I was a temp with them for a summer. It was fun to hang out, eat barbecue (of course when you are in KC!), bowl, and we even got to see some friends from BYU, Wes & Christen Guenther! It is always fun introducing Ryder to friends :) I am a very bad bowler but sometimes I can get some strikes...I think I got 2 or 3 in a row...of course, Kevin and Wes bowled a ton of extra games. I can only handle 1 or 2 lol.
+ We watched my nephew, Zach in an indoor soccer game...meanwhile I fed Ryder haha.
+ We ate at a Mexican restaurant with family and some of Kevin's friends that he got to grow up with! Some interesting, funny stories were shared!
+ Ryder got to meet cousin Simeon, a couple weeks younger than him! It is crazy how close in age they are! Actually he got to meet lots of cousins and family for the first time!
+ We hung out with family and had a big lunch before we had to catch our flight!

It is always fun to get to KC and hopefully we will soon ;)

A Little Preppin + a Date Night

Kevin and I had a fun date night - December 1, 2012 (yes late I know) - but I just have to share this photo first.
Earlier in this day, Kevin watched a Doomsday Preppers episode and got so pumped that he drove to Target and bought a bunch of stuff for our 72 hour kits...
He was so excited about it so I had to document ;)
Of course he got peach rings candy for his kit...lol.
Moving on...
We hit up downtown FoCo for a little date night and of course, we took the babe.
...haven't left him with anyone for a date night yet haha...
The lights everywhere were a pretty touch.
We checked out some fun stores.
We checked out Rocket Fizz...an amazing candy store!!!
I am not a big fan of just eating candy or drinking soda but I love this candy store!
It is a very fun one.
They have tons of soda throughout the whole store, even 47 different kinds of root beer!
Confession: I rarely drink soda...like maybe once a month, so I didn't get any candy or soda here...
I just feel like it is kind of a waste of money haha...I'd rather have ice-cream, frozen yogurt, a cupcake, or some clothes lol.
But Kevin got some soda and he got a winner.
But first, see our shopping friend...
The winner is on the left...cream soda.
The one on the right...ginger ale was sick-nasty.
But the left one was divine.
I wished I got one.
We also stopped by Buttercream Cupcakery and each tried a cupcake from there.
I had been wanting to try that place for awhile.
Kevin chose eggnog (ew) and I chose red velvet (win).
Afterwards we split our ways - Kevin and I - as he wanted to watch some game on TV lol.
I then watched The Hunger Games with my mom and brother, Zach.
They both loved the movie and I let them in on the background of the movie since I read all the books.
Great night! You can't go wrong hanging out downtown Fort Collins!
