San Juan, Puerto Rico

Monday - March 12, 2012

Kevin in front of our ship, Celebrity Eclipse.
Our first stop on our babymoon cruise was San Juan, Puerto Rico!
Kevin and I chose to do our own thing instead of doing an excursion.
We walked around the island, browsed a few shops, and checked out the two fortresses:
Castillo San Cristobal &
Castillo San Felipe del Morro.
The first fortress we came upon was Castillo San Cristobal.
We didn't pay to go in this fortress but took lots of pictures around it...
actually make that a whole day of lots of pictures. This post will be picture heavy so beware.

We walked a long way to Castillo San Felipe del Morro. We wanted to walk around that one (and pay) because it was the bigger of the two. When I was younger, like in junior high, my family went on a Royal Caribbean cruise and actually checked out this fortress, so it was familiar!
Cemetery to the right.
Castillo San Felipe del Morro.
When in doubt...show off your bump.
Ocean views...it was so gorgeous!
Inside Castillo San Felipe del Morro.
Kevin told me to sit here so he could take a picture haha.
I felt like I was getting my senior pictures taken. He's so funny.
My boo and I at Castillo San Felipe del Morro.
As you can tell it was super windy...and it sucked brushing my hair that night...ha!
My husband!
Lighthouse on the top level.
Pretty San Juan.
We made it back to the boat just in time to change and be at our dinner time at 6.
We of course went to the show afterwards.
We had a blast checking out San Juan and the fortresses. It was a colorful vibrant city. We passed out so fast because we were so tired from walking miles around the island in the heat!
Next up: Saint Maarten!

Day at Sea 1: Puerto Rico Bound

Sunday - March 11, 2012
Days at sea while on a cruise are very relaxing.
We had several and this was our first one, and the day after we got on the cruise.
We stayed up late the night before and I'm pretty sure Kevin ordered room service at midnight haha so we slept in...
We slept in so late that the housekeeping lady walked in our room and realized we were in bed!
It was really funny. I'm so glad she woke us up because I think it was around 11 am. I can't remember the last time I slept in that long! Anyways, we got up and headed to the solarium...which is an adult only pool.
We ended up there because basically all of the chairs to lay out on in the sun were taken.
We read for hours, ate soft serve ice cream, attempted to get in the solarium pool (very cold!), and went to dinner.
View of the solarium
Each night I made Kevin take a picture of me and my prego belly either before or after dinner.
Now, that belly seems so small haha. So funny.
About to head into dinner...
After dinner we went to the evening show.
On the way we passed the acapella group, Uncommon Ground.
On the last cruise we went on, with my family in Northern Europe, Kelsi and Hunter became good friends with the acapella group on that boat. We had to take a picture and a video for Hunter because he grew really attached to the guys haha.
I remember the boat was really rough the day before and this day. You could feel the boat move a lot since it was pretty windy. Good thing we don't get sick on cruises! I love being rocked to sleep each night. Anyways, we were at the show here and I'm pretty sure it was entertaining!
Frog towel! I love when they fold the beach towels as animals. So boss.
Next up: Puerto Rico!

And...I will be trying harder to catch up on my blog...because you wanted to know :)

So we went on a babymoon...

Yes, we went on a babymoon March 9-17 and I'm just now blogging about it now...
We went on a week long cruise to Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, and St. Kitts aboard the Celebrity Eclipse!
But hey, better late than never and I really do want to blog about this.
Whenever I go on long trips I always feel like it is harder to blog about it afterwards because so much happens and it is overwhelming!

Friday - March 9, 2012
We flew to Fort Lauderdale and arrived very late. We got a rental car and headed to a Marriott hotel which we got a free room thanks to points! Love when we can use points.

Saturday - March 10, 2012
We got on the cruise - Celebrity Eclipse - and the cruise headed off to San Juan, Puerto Rico!

Here we are driving to the Miami port to board the ship!
This picture is so gay haha.
We got on the boat, put our bags in our room, and then headed to lunch. We ate out on the deck that overlooked Miami.
Kevin got the drinks haha.
On the top deck there was a lawn club. Basically it was beautifully manicured grass. Kevin was obsessed, basically because it was like a beautiful golf course and he loves golf haha.
Then we laid out on some lawn chairs and watched the boat leave Miami!
Crowded Miami beach!
Then we explored the boat and went to dinner!
My bump is SO small now looking back haha. I am 15, almost 16 weeks here.
Heading to dinner!
My hubby at our little table for 2. I loved our little private table.
Then we passed by this table where they were giving away Bingo cards if you could toss a bean bag in a hole and of course Kevin won one. I expected him to win one though since he played Baseball in college haha.
Check out this awesome carving in this watermelon! They had awesome ice sculpture carvings and carvings in fruit all over the boat! That is literally a guys job on the boat - to carve awesome sculptures!
And here is a tour of our little interior state room!
Phew that took awhile. Well that was the beginning of our babymoon!
Ah, I miss it so much.

22 Weeks

22 weeks, 1 day.
Top: Ann Taylor Loft Maternity
Skinny Jeans: Motherhood Maternity
Bracelet: Guess
22 weeks, 3 days.
Top: Nordstrom
Undershirt: Shade Clothing Maternity
Skinny Jeans: Forever 21
Belt: Target
Watch: Asia
Bracelet: Guess
22 weeks, 4 days.
Top: Ann Taylor Loft Maternity
Jeans: Gap Maternity
Bracelet: Gift from mom

How Far Along: 22 weeks, 4 days. 2nd trimester!
Size of the Baby: Spaghetti Squash, 11 inches long, almost 1 lb. (going off the Babycenter app)
Maternity Clothes: Yes I'm wearing them more often now and they are definitely more comfortable than normal clothes, especially pants! I got 1 pair of denim jeans, 1 pair of blue skinny jeans, 1 pair of denim capris, and some khaki capris. It has been getting really hot recently so I may need to find some shorts soon.
Stretch marks: Nope.
Weight gain/loss: 12 lbs?
Sleep: This week I've been sleeping pretty good minus bathroom breaks. Also, hoping my back pain stays manageable.
Best Moment of the Week: Our 2nd ultrasound!!! I will post on this later :)
Movement: Oh yes, I feel him move all the time. It is the best!
Symptoms: Just feel like my stomach is growing and sometimes it is super uncomfortable!
Food Cravings: Fruit...and cookies!
Gender: Little baby boy!
Belly Button in or out: In.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really.
Labor Signs: Nope.
Wedding ring on or off: On but sometimes I feel like my fingers swell just a tad so my wedding ring is a bit tighter. I hate this! It is very small so at least I don't have sausage fingers haha. My ring finger is a size 4 so I'm sure it isn't noticeable to anyone else.
What I miss: Being able to move easier in yoga (belly is starting to get in the way) and do certain types of workouts (i.e. Kickboxing but my physical therapist said that isn't a good idea). I never realized how many twisting moves there are in working out...also not sure if tennis is good?! Thoughts? You twist your body when hitting forehands and backhands so...not sure on that. I grew up playing tennis so its not like I just dink it around haha.
What I am looking forward to: Meeting our boy!
Nursery: Working on it. We are wanting to paint the room so need to figure out the furniture and bedding first then can work on that.
Emotions: Good?
Stupid things I have done: Eh, can't think of anything this week.

21 Weeks

Today I'm actually 22 weeks, but I didn't have time to do my 21 week update last week (was on a trip in Kansas City) so here it is!

Cardigan: Shade Clothing
Skinny Jeans: Motherhood Maternity
Necklace: Blend Fashion
Watch: Asia
Earrings: Fossil

Hair piece: Nordstrom
21 weeks, 3 days.
Same outfit as above but with maxi skirt. I wore this to the Kansas City Temple open house.
21 weeks, 5 days.
Top: Ann Taylor Loft Maternity
Jeans: Gap Maternity (they stretch out A TON fyi!)
Watch: Louis Vuitton (Asia)
Bracelet: F21

How Far Along: 21 weeks. 2nd trimester!
Size of the Baby: Carrot, 10.5 inches long. 13 oz (that is what he was last week!).  (going off the Babycenter app)
Maternity Clothes: I got a pair of jean capris from Motherhood Maternity that are pretty cute. They have a demi band and I hope they will still work when I get much larger. They are comfy and cute! I also got a few tops from Ann Taylor Loft Maternity which are very cute! I got some maternity jeans from Gap that are very nice but stretch out a ton...wish they didn't stretch out that much. I wonder if I should have tried on a smaller size! Hmmm, also got some tan capris from Old Navy...I basically just need bottoms...maybe a swimsuit...
Stretch marks: Nope.
Weight gain/loss: 11 lbs?
Sleep: So on Monday, I woke up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and my whole right leg was asleep from the hip down. I got up and I felt like a pirate with a peg leg as I walked across the room. It was VERY painful! Anyways, I woke up in the morning and my right side around my hip and low back was killing! It was the worst it had ever been. I tried to just ignore it but it hurt so bad to walk and move in general. Then I got very hot and didn't feel good and I got sick. Sadly it was the 1st time I did this whole pregnancy! But I can't complain because some people throw up their whole pregnancy! I feel so bad for them. Anyways, I called the nurse and she said actually they wanted me to come in. I went to the doctor and I had to do a pee test for a bladder infection. I didn't have one and then I spoke with my obgyn. She wanted to make sure I didn't have a blood clot which I also didn't have. Basically the symptoms I told them made them worry but all in all, I'm now fine. I had a sciatica (pinched nerve), round ligament pain, and of course the back pain I get often...so fun stuff! We then worked on my insurance to see if I could get more visits to the physical therapist and sadly my insurance is not giving me any. So I have 3 more physical therapy visits for the rest of the year...I hope I will be okay!!! Ahhh...so frustrating.
Best Moment of the Week: Feeling baby moving!
Movement: He is moving around a lot now and I love it! :D
Symptoms: Just bad back pain this week! Oh, and my hands seemed to swell a little in Kansas City? My wedding ring seemed a little tighter but I think it is back to normal. Humidity, hot weather, and exercising can make you swell more - at least I read that online.

Food Cravings: Mexican!
Gender: BOY!!!
Belly Button in or out: In.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Bad back pain haha.
Labor Signs: Nope.
Wedding ring on or off: On.
What I miss: Being able to workout harder.
What I am looking forward to: Tomorrow because we have our 2nd ultrasound thanks to our little boy being stubborn and not letting us get all the pictures/measurements we needed a week and a half ago, haha :) So excited to see him again!!!
Nursery: In progress...will be looking at cribs soon, bedding, paint colors, etc :)
Emotions: Alright.
Stupid things I have done: Not sure.
